Alton “Al” Lee Potter, 77, of Dowagiac, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Dowagiac, 326 N. Lowe St. Dowagiac, with Pastor David Price officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St. Dowagiac, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow the service on Monday at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Handy Helpers with the Council on Aging, or the First United Methodist Church of Dowagiac. Those wishing to share a memory of Al online may do so at www.clarkch.com.
Al was born July 3, 1936, in Berryville, Mich., to Donald and Rosemary (Stage) Potter. On July 20, 1965 he married Nancy (Prescott) Potter. With all who knew and loved Al, they will remember never having a dull moment around him.
He was an avid member of Monday Night Running Club. On his 50th birthday, Al ran 50 miles, and for his 60th birthday, he biked 350 miles. He will be remembered for his artistic abilities with stained glass. Many of his works are displayed throughout Dowagiac.
Al is survived by his wife, Nancy, his two children, Monica (Colby) Novar, of Kalamazoo; Patrick Potter, of Dowagiac; his three grandchildren, Anthony, Emily, and Molly Potter, all of Dowagiac; his two brothers, Jerry (Carole) Potter, of Dowagiac and Bill Barbara (Potter) of Edwardsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
