Diane Mead, 69, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 in Bronson Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw.

Diane was born Dec. 21, 1943 in Chicago, the daughter of Stephen and Otylia (Lentwoski) Lewandowski. She was a 1962 graduate of Decatur High School.

She was formerly employed by Special-Lite in Decatur with her husband and also farmed for 20 years. She loved her life, husband, cats and kids.

She married Donald R. Mead May 7, 1984 and he preceded her in death March 22, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Barbara Whittman and Otylia Taget.

Survivors include her children, Gerald Harnish of Decatur, Victoria Jones of Watervliet, Rick Mead of Decatur, Michael Mead of South Haven, Penny Efting of Bangor, Judy Efting of Whitehall, Steven Mead of Paw Paw; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Steve Lewandowski of Chicago.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held Sat. Oct. 19, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the First Church of God, located 708 S. George St. in Decatur, with Rev. Michael Heflin officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Hamilton Cemetery in Decatur at a later date. Arrangements by Newell Funeral Home Decatur.
