LAWTON — The Niles freshmen volleyball team went 1-3 at the Lawton Invitational Saturday.

The Vikings were defeated by the host Blue Devils (2-0), Kalamazo (2-0), Edwardsburg (2-0) and beat Cassopolis (2-0).

“We started off with a lot of errors in the first couple matches and struggled to get things going,” Niles coach Sammee Schaller. “However, by our last match of the day the girls did a great job of implementing new changes made to their defense and decreased their errors tremendously compared to the start of the day. As a coach I am pleased to see my girls improving everyday in their play and effort on the court.”
