BERRIEN SPRINGS — Jorge Ruiz scored a pair of goals to lift the Dowagiac soccer team to a 2-0 Wolverine Conference West Division victory over Berrien Springs Thursday.

Ruiz scored a goal in the 39th minute off an assist by Tony Solis and a goal in the 44th minute off an assist by Ricardo Esperaza.

Dowagiac held an 18-3 advantage in shots on goal.

“We played a well rounded game offensively and defensively today, Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “Winning allowed us to have our first crossover game at home Monday.

Dowagiac will face Otsego at 5 p.m.
