Breast cancer awareness will be the topic at the Cass County Council on Aging Oct. 21.

The event, which will be held in the COA’s Lowe Center from 4 to 6 p.m., will celebrate those who have survived as well as remember those who fought so bravely.

“This is truly an event where celebration is key,” stated Sandi Hoger, the COA’s Active Engagement Team Leader. “Surviving breast cancer is a heroic endeavor and we are pleased to hold an event that helps make everyone aware of steps to prevention. In particular, we are grateful to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. They are donating two mammograms that we will be door prizes that afternoon in addition to other items.”

The free event will feature Marcia K. Liepman, MD, a board certified hematologist/oncologist. Other speakers will include breast cancer survivors Jackie Bowe and Mona Bowe.

The celebration will also provide refreshments and a variety of door prizes including the two mammograms donated by Lee Memorial Hospital.

The COA Lowe Center is located at 60525 Decatur Road at M-60 in Cassopolis.
