Dowagiac Director of Public Safety, Steve Grinnewald, announces the arrest of two local subjects at the Sept. 27th, Friday night Dowagiac home football game.

While working a security detail at the football game on Friday night, police officers and school administrative staff observed two subjects enter the playing field area of the football field and proceed to walk from the home side of the field to the visitor’s side of the field at about the 40 yard line. This occurred during a brief break between plays and did not affect the actual playing of the game.

Officers were able to locate the subjects on the east side of the field and detain them.

During their investigation, officers determined that the two subjects had been consuming alcohol. The subjects, a 20 year-old Dowagiac resident and a 21 year-old Hartford resident were arrested for disorderly conduct. The 20 year-old was also charged with being a minor consuming alcohol. Both subjects were lodged at the Cass County Jail.

Their names are being withheld pending arraignment. This incident remains under investigation at this time.
