Bike ride to support Myeloma research

Miles for Myeloma 2 (3)

Dr. Rafat Abonour, an oncologist and researcher with the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center, and a group of cyclists will bike 225 miles to raise awareness and research funds for multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer.

This year’s Miles for Myeloma begins at 8 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 1000 Moore Drive, Niles, Mich. The cyclists will be in South Bend at approximately 8:30 a.m., LaPorte at 10 a.m. and Monticello at 5 p.m.

A finish-line celebration is at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 outside of the NCAA Hall of Champions at White River State Park in Indianapolis.

This is the ninth annual Miles for Myeloma. To date, Abonour has raised more than $2 million for multiple myeloma research. All of the funds are used by researchers at the IU Simon Cancer Center.
