Car overturns in Porter Township

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports that is responded to a single car accident at 1:06 a.m. Sunday on North Peninsula Drive near Union Road in Porter Township.

Connor Ray Gest, 18, of Elkhart, was traveling eastbound on North Peninsula Drive when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve, causing the vehicle to overturn.

There were five occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash – Dawn Burnham, 38, of Cassopolis, Camilla Laviolette, 31, of Vandalia, Jeremy Fry, 21, of Cassopolis, Nakita Spaulding, 16, of Union and Chris Burnham, 19, of Cassopolis. All occupants of the vehicle excluding the driver suffered minor injuries from the crash.

Gest and Spaulding were transported to Elkhart General Hospital by Life Care Ambulance and Porter Twp. Ambulance. Also assisting at the scene was the Porter Twp. Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.
