Local man arrested after foot pursuit

Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steven Grinnewald reports that officers from the Dowagiac Police Department arrested a 46-year-old Dowagiac man after a foot pursuit Thursday night.

The incident took place at 9:19 p.m. Sept. 19 when officers attempted to arrest the male on an outstanding warrant.

He was first located in the area of Grove Street, near Walnut Street, when he attempted to flee from officers on foot.

Foot pursuit lasted several blocks before the subject was apprehended in the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Chestnut Street.

The male was arrested and lodged on the original warrant as well as resisting/obstructing police from the foot pursuit.

Police withheld the man’s name pending arraignment in Cass County Fourth District Court.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted Dowagiac officers.
