The International Festival, after taking a year off, is returning to Cassopolis.

The Minority Coalition of Cass County is sponsoring the event.

“We didn’t receive a grant last year, so we didn’t have it,” Penny Moore said. “We didn’t get a grant this year either, but we decided we still wanted to keep it going.”

The festival will be held at Sam Adams Middle School from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Come Tell Your Story,” which celebrates the cultures that make up the fabric of Cass County.

The Minority Coalition has invited people and cultures to come and share their group or family’s culture, history and heritage.

The festival is open to the public.

There will be music, dance, art, storytelling and more.

There will also be information and craft booths.

“There are not as many booths as in past years, but we will still have some,” Adrienne Glover said.

A Native American will be presenting their native dance dressed in full regalia, while an African gentleman and a man from California will talk about the Kenyan culture and how the American and African American cultures overlap according to Glover.
