Niles girls 10th, boys fifth at Penn Hokum Karem

MISHAWAKA — The Niles girls cross country team finished 10th at the Penn Hokum Karem Saturday.

Homestead won the girls title with 27 points. LaPorte was second with 32 points. Niles finished with 111 points.

Penn’s Maddie Woods and Danielle Frank were the overall winners with a time of 35:40. Homestead’s Madison Distelrath and Grace Walther were second with a 36:10. Defending national cross country champion Anna Rohrer and Hannah Cooper of Mishawaka were third with a time of 36:20.

Niles’ Abby Gaines and Chelsea Best were 29th with a time of 42:53. Kylee Meyer and Hannah Walker ran 46:16, Meygan Rudlaff and Hanna Jackowiak ran 46:47 and Danielle Villa and Natalie Swailes ran 54:41.

Goshen won the boys race with 40 points. LaPorte was second with 18. Niles finished fifth with 119.

Jacob Timmons and Andy Timmons of South Bend Adams were the overall winners with a time of 30:20.

Niles’ Gaige Nichols and Noah Hall finished 40th with a time of 45:27.

Christopher Ahlgrim and Stingray Jones ran 46:40, while Oskar Olalde and Christopher Frantz ran 42:20.
