Niles girls finish fourth at Big Hill Invitational

The Niles girls cross country team finished fourth and the boys team sixth at the Three Rivers Bill Hill Invitational Tuesday.

Marshall won the girls team title with a total time of 2:05.46. Three Rivers was second with a time of 2:09.35.

The Vikings, led by Abigail Gaines, posted a time of 2:20.47.

Marshall also won the boys title with a time of 1:40:18. Constantine was second at 1:49.46.

The Vikings finished with a 2:01.28. Charles Leonard was the first runner across the finish line for Niles with a time of 21:24.

Viking Stampede

DOWAGIAC — Defending Foot Locker national champion Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka had no trouble winning the Niles Viking Stampe at the Dowagiac Middle School Saturday.

Rohrer’s time of 16:52.25 was more than a minute better than the runner up and she would have finished 11th in the boys race.

Penn won the team title with 42 points. LaPorte was second with 59. Host Niles finished ninth with 247 points and Cassopolis 10th with 317 points.

St. Joseph captured the boys title with 43 points. Northridge was second with 53. The Vikings were ninth with 279 points.

Anthony Didion of LaPorte was the overall winner with a time of 16:01.12.
