Four juveniles caught hiding in ShopkoPublished 11:22am Sunday, August 25, 2013
Dowagiac Public Safety Director Steve Grinnewald reports that four juveniles were apprehended by city police officers inside a business after hours following an alarm call.
Officers were originally called to the Shopko store in the 56000 block of Pokagon Street regarding the alarm. They arrived and found that everything appeared to be secure.
When a key holder arrived on scene and allowed officers in the building to verify that all was secure, they discovered four juvenile subjects inside the store who purposely hid inside at closing time.
Officers were able to apprehend the juveniles, who were initially detained at the scene.
All four were later turned over to parents. A report is being forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The case remains under investigation.
Grinnewald asks that if you should have any information about this case, please contact the Dowagiac Police Department at (269) 782-9743 or the Cass County tip-Line at 1-800-462-9328.
