EDWARDSBURG — Kenneth J. Lenegir, Sr., 61, of Mason Twp., Edwardsburg, passed to his rest on Aug. 14, 2013 in the Emergency Room of Elkhart General Hospital after a sudden illness at home that morning.
Ken was born Dec. 13, 1951 in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Charles Wilson Shore, Sr., and Henrietta Geraldine Schwinger.
Ken and his wife Diane, moved to the Michiana area in 1995 from Illinois. Ken was a truck driver, making short trips for CTI and most recently was a tire and lube ‘Express Tech’ with WalMart in Elkhart, where he made many friends with the customers and his co-workers. Ken’s life centered around his family because of his love for his wife and children. They all spent time camping and traveling to many scenic places. Ken’s sense of humor was overwhelming, and he was a ‘jokester’ and enjoyed everyone around him.
Ken was married June 5, 1972 in DuPage County, Ill. To Diane R. Lanners, who survives, with their children; Kenneth J. (Deborah) Lenegir, Jr., of Marcellus, Candice Rae (Daniel) Krajewski of Middleburg, Fla., Nicole R. (Donald) Sheaf of Edwardsburg, and Kelly M. (Joseph) Luthringer of Edwardsburg. There are 13 loving grandchildren and 11 admiring great-grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his father, Charles Wilson Shore, Sr., and three brothers; Rex Allen (Barbara) Lenegir of Bartlett, Ill., Charles (Deborah) Shore, JR., of Niles, and David W. Shore of Indiana. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta.
Family and friends may gather Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St. (US-12) Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Roger Dickson, minister of Trinity Praise and Worship Assembly of Elkhart. Interment will follow at Five Points Cemetery, Edwardsburg.
It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Ken’s wife, Diane Lenegir, in care of the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, P.O. Box 24, Edwardsburg, MI 49112-0024.
