Catherine Mae Doe, age 87 years of Berrien Center, Michigan died at 7:36 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at her home following an extended illness.

She was born on May 20, 1926 and anecdotal information suggests that her mother chose to remain anonymous, but trusted her new baby’s care to the community in which she was born. She has lived in Berrien Center since 1991, coming from Coldwater, Michigan.

Catherine enjoyed listening to books and attending movies with her friends, preferring the romance theme. She also enjoyed music of all styles, receiving manicures, and participating in weekly baking chores. She will be well remembered for having opinions to which she held tight and expressed strongly.

She is survived by her fellow residents and a circle of caregivers, and former caregivers who would make return visits.

The funeral service for Catherine Doe will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, Michigan with Elder G. Bill Zebell of Berrien Center Bible Church officiating. Committal will follow at the Union Cemetery in Berrien Center.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday.
