Donald L. Smith, 84, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Silverbrook Manor in Niles.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery in Dowagiac, with burial to follow.

Donald was born June 27, 1929, in Eau Claire, to Fremont and Edna (Wesaw) Smith. He was an area resident most of his life, employed in the printing industry. Don served his country in the U.S. military. He was a member of the Dowagiac VFW, enjoyed following the Detroit Tigers, reading western novels and watching Lawrence Welk.
Donald is survived by his children, Daniel Smith of Three Rivers and John Montano of St. Saint Marie, several grandchildren and special friends Debbie Reeves and Mickey Reeves and Barb and Don Myers, all of Dowagiac.
