Cassopolis’ Mott injured when vehicle strikes trees

A driver had to be extricated from his vehicle following a morning crash in Newberg Township Sunday.

Scott Mott, 28, of Cassopolis was northbound on Savage Road when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and went into the woods, striking several trees at 6:31 a.m. Sunday near Kirk Lake Road.

Mott had to be extricated out of the vehicle and was taken to Three Rivers Hospital by the Newberg Ambulance for leg injuries.

Newberg Ambulance Service, Newberg Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance Service assisted Cass County deputies at the scene, according to Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr.

Safety belt was used and alcohol was a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
