Michiana artists participate in Chesterton Art Fair

The 55th annual Chesterton Art Fair will be held Aug. 3-4 at Hawthorne Park in Porter, Ind. The hours of the fair are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and the admission charge is $5 per person. Parking is free.
Local participating artists include James Allen French, a photographer from Niles, and Darlene Troyer, a jewelry artist from Vandalia. These artists, along with 80 others from 11 states, will be exhibiting artwork in a multitude of mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, sculpture, weaving, glass and pottery..
The Golden Fingers, a Chesterton-based ukulele band, will play music from 10:30 a.m. to noon and members of the South Shore Youth Orchestra will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. each day at the art fair. Volunteers from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Augsburg Lutheran Church will be in charge of the food and beverage booths. A children’s activity booth will allow kids the opportunity to create a piece of art.
Proceeds from the Chesterton Art Fair go to the Art Education Fund at the Chesterton Art Center. More than 1,000 children participate in art classes each year, creating projects and learning to appreciate and enjoy art in many forms.
