CASSOPOLIS — A wallet-sized, plastic photo identification card for veterans who show proof of military service and Cass County residency is available at the Cass County Clerk’s Office.

The card, which includes a photograph taken at the office, is a new service.

The card fee is $10 and will qualify veterans for discounts on purchases at various retail businesses, said Cass County Clerk Monica Kennedy.

Clerks’ offices in some other Michigan counties already offer the service, said Kennedy, who is collaborating with Tom Green, veterans’ services officer, on the project.

To apply for the card at the clerk’s office, veterans can provide qualifying documents such as their military discharge papers, Kennedy said Friday.
