MUNCIE, Ind. — Norman Schyler Gantt, 62, formerly of Niles, Mich., passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 25, 1950 in South Bend, Ind., the son of James Edward and Bonita Marie (Leich) Gantt. He married Cheryl K. Fisher on June 6, 1970 in Niles, Michigan.

He worked for Townsend Tree Service in the Chemical Division for over 41 years. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.) and his call sign was NS9G.  Norman was also a volunteer for the Sky Warn Program.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing and NASCAR. Norman loved being outside and nature, especially eagles.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cheryl K. Gantt of Muncie; one son, Richard Gantt (wife, Josefina) of Manhattan, Kan.; four grandchildren, Gloria, Jazmin, Isabel and Schyler; and his best friend, Jim Pickett of Strong, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one half-sister, Penny Keen.

There will be no services or visitation and cremation will take place.
