Buchanan woman dies in Sunday crash

A 91-year-old Buchanan woman is dead after a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening in Bertrand Township.

Frances Young died in the crash.

Michigan State Police troopers responded to the accident at around 6:08 p.m. at the intersection of US 12 and Mayflower Road in Berrien County. A silver Buick was south bound on Mayflower and turned left onto US 12 east bound when it was struck by an east bound Nissan Maxima.

Young, a front seat passenger in the Buick, died immediately. The driver of the Buick, Norris Young, 94, of Buchanan, survived and was transported to Lakeland-Niles for injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, Cash Krumrie, 18, of Buchanan, was not wearing a seatbelt. Krumrie struck the windshield and was transported to Memorial Hospital South Bend for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor.
