WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen, Debbie Stabenow, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, Thursday announced a Rural Development Grant for the Decatur Police Department.

The grant, made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Initiative Community Facilities Grant Program, will be used to help purchase a new police vehicle.

The police department will receive $14,000 to help replace its current vehicle, which is in need of costly repairs.

“We depend on our men and women in uniform to be there in times of crisis, and they depend on us for the support they need to do their jobs,” said Stabenow. “This funding will help the Decatur Police Department perform their duties and protect the public.”
