Eric Flowers, 62, of Vandalia, died peacefully Monday, June 3, 2013 in his residence in the presence of his family.

Eric was born June 29, 1950 in Chicago to Walter Grant and Essie Flowers. He married Josephine Moore June 21, 1986 in Chicago. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eric loved fishing and cooking out. He enjoyed being with his family and making them laugh. His family will miss his smile and his straight forward wisdom. His favorite saying was, “I AM Somebody.” His hobby was 10 toes up and 10 toes down.

Eric will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Josephine (Moore) Flowers of Vandalia; 26 children, including, Erika (Delvon) Clark, Marguerita Flowers, Eric R. Flowers, Emmanuel (Charnell) Flowers, all of Syracuse, N.Y., Venus Flowers-Hamilton of Fayetteville, N.C., Eric W. (Angel) Flowers, Sonia (Antoine) Henderson, both of Iowa City, Iowa, Lester (Kieda) Moore, Andre’ Moore, both of Kalamazoo, Anthony Moore of Vandalia, Rita (Demetrices) Flowers-Orr of South Haven, Ronnie Flowers of Kalamazoo, Devell Flowers of Vandalia, Reginald Flowers of Germany; 102 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Tasheem Barnes, Aaniyah Barnes, Cionnia Flowers, Kendrick Lamar Dorsey; two sisters, Rita D. Flowers of Kalamazoo, and one sister in Puerto Rico; and three brothers.

The family will observe a private remembrance of Mr. Flowers.
