The “Go West” T-shirts, designed by Jasmine Neldon, a 2009 Brandywine High School graduate, retails for $15 after tax, with a portion of each sale going to the scholarship fund.

Neldon is a senior majoring in  political science and organizational  communication. She is scheduled  to graduate in December and is  planning on going to law school in  January.

Neldon is the speaker of the  student senate for the Western  Student Association, WSA.

Neldon said her goal was to make  a value-driven shirt that reflects school pride.

Her design features a large yellow “W” made of phrases and words describing what Kalamazoo and the school mean to her and her classmates. Underneath the “W” are the words, “Go West.”

“Western means a lot to me, so it is great to leave my mark in this way,” Neldon said.

The shirts are available at Underground Printing in the Campus Pointe Plaza across from campus in Kalamazoo and will be sold at www.ugpwmuapparel.com.

This is the second year of the annual T-shirt design contest created by the WSA as a spirit-building campus initiative.
