CASSOPOLIS — Sheriff Joseph M Underwood Jr. reports his deputies arrested two individuals in the public parking lot of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office for multiple charges.

Deputies responded to a report of an individual at the animal control office with arrest warrants.

The individual began driving away as deputies arrived and was stopped in the public parking lot of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was found to be the wanted subject with a bench warrant out of Cass County District Court.

Further investigation found heroin in the vehicle along with open containers of alcohol. The driver was also found to be driving while suspended in Michigan.
The passenger initially provided a false name to deputies, but admitted to his true identity after finding that the name he gave deputies had arrest warrants as well.

The passenger’s correct identity was confirmed and he was found to be an absconder from parole in Michigan.

Both parties were arrested and lodged for their related offenses.

Names were being withheld pending arraignment on charges.
