Anna Jeweldene Keeton, 85, of Niles, passed away Thursday morning, May 28, in the Lakeland Hospital in Niles. Jeweldene was born in Collinwood, Tenn., on April 22, 1928, to the late Lee and Sara Christian. On May 4, 1946, she married Clifford Keeton; he preceded her in death on July 27, 2010. For 28 years, she worked as a nurse’s aid at the St. Joseph Community Hospital of Mishawaka, from where she retired in 1987.

Jeweldene is survived by her children, Wanda Gail (Jerry) Klaer, of Mishawaka, Robert “Bud” (Theresa) Keeton, of South Bend, Dwaine (Bobbie Jo) Keeton and Rick A. (Kim) Keeton, both of Niles. She was the proud grandmother of 10, Susan (Grant) Moore, Kristin (Chad) Thomas, David (Cara) Klaer, Korrie (Tracy) Garringer, Ryan (Becky) Keeton, Rhiannon (Kyle) Moore, Rene Keeton, Jessica Keeton, Tracey Jo Keeton and Chad Keeton; and a great-grandmother of 11. She cherished all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeweldene was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Christian and Euel Butler, along with three sisters, Nancy Blanton, Crantha Todd and Reba Butler.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 31, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka from 4 until 8 p.m. A service celebrating Jeweldene’s life will be held in the funeral chapel on Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. Burial is to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeweldene’s name to the American Heart Association.
