Died: May 26, 2013

 

Jackie Nemedi passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. She was born in Benton Harbor on Aug. 10, 1937, the only daughter of the late Kenneth and Gladys (White) Timmons.

 

Jackie had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up the room. She was a kind, gentle and loving wife, mother and friend. Jackie was a courageous person who always faced challenges with her head high, heart strong and a smile on her face.

On Sept. 16, 1967, she married the love of her life, Ron Nemedi, who survives. Jackie was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a gifted bowler and was a member of the WIBC for 43 years. She was a member of several bowling leagues, where she served as secretary and also as a junior bowling instructor. She would eventually be inducted into the KAWBA Hall of Fame.

 

Jackie was a hard worker who was employed by the James River Co. for many years. She also worked as a receptionist for Joldersma and Klein for several years.

 

Jackie enjoyed doing cross stitch, knitting projects, and catching dinner with the “Monday Night Taco Gang.” She and Ron enjoyed going to the casino and took many bus trips around Michigan.

 

Jackie’s smile and unforgettable laugh will be missed by her family and all those she called friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory two children, Michele “Shelly” Nemedi and Mark Nemedi. She was also preceded in passing by two infant twin brothers.

 

A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary service at 6:30. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St., Kalamazoo, beginning at 11 a.m. with Fr. Mike Hazard officiating. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center and St. Joseph Catholic Church, c/o the funeral home.
