‘Star Trek Into Darkness”
5 out of 5 stars
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi

With many critics giving this film a hard time, I think to myself, finally, 2013 has a film that is worthy. JJ Abrams delivers a solid understanding of the hit series of “Star Trek.”
But the question is, does he do it well enough to please fans of the TV series?
After crew members of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Capt. Kirk hunts down a man of destruction and evil. Along the way, he has many names, but chaos ensues when his true identity is revealed.
After visiting such planets as Nibiru and Kronos, audiences around the world continue to watch the crew of the Enterprise grow into a stronger collaborative team.
Kirk volunteers the crew for a mission to stop a terrorist named John Harrison and is sent by Admiral Marcus to destroy him.
Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) are my personal favorite trio. All professional, top-of-the-art actors who portray their roles brilliantly — especially Zachary Quinto. Spock is not an easy job for anybody, even for Leonard Nimoy, but when an actor can be as serious and unsmiling as Spock is, you have found an actor who is perfect for the job.
There is one actor, who not only delivers an outstanding, perfect performance, but already early on deserves an Oscar nomination.
Benedict Cumberbatch easily surpasses the best performance I’ve seen since Anne Hathaway in “Les Miserables.”
In many scenes, it’s difficult to even believe he was acting. He gives viewers the sensation of great acting and passion about his role.
Along with the applause, the makeup deserves a standing ovation. Superb art. No doubt in my mind, “Star Trek” will have at least two Academy Award nominations.
From the stunning visual affects that draw your eyes to the screen, to the makeup artists, to the performances of the cast members, “Star Trek into Darkness” pulls together a breathtaking epic that should not be missed. Even if not a fan of “Star Trek,” you will be pleased with this success from JJ Abrams.
This gives fans of “Star Wars” hope for the seventh episode hitting the big screen in 2015.
