Garner’s four goals gives Rangers title

Jaleesa Garner scored four goals and Meagan Ruff and Melody Cutting both had two assists as host Cassopolis captured the Lakeland Conference soccer title Wednesday.

The Rangers, winners of the regular season title, defeated Buchanan 5-1 to claim the tournament championship.

Garner scored in the third, sixth, eighth and 21st minutes as Cassopolis scored all five of its goals in the first half.

Buchanan’s Haley DeFreez averted the shutout for the Bucks with a goal in the 25th minute.

The Rangers outshot the Bucks 38-10.

In the consolation match, Bridgman edged Brandywine 2-1.

Rachael Szilagyi had the lone goal for the Bobcats.
