Sally Ann Boniface, 75

Died: May 14, 2013

 

 

Sally’s life began on Dec. 6, 1937, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Donald and Jean (Ostrowski) Hartman. She loved working with ceramics when she was younger. She was an amazing cook and loved to shop. One of her joys of life was loving and spoiling her dog, Sadie.

 

Sally was employed as a bartender for a local tavern in Dowagiac for more than 39 years, Reds, Bake’s Place and now known as Beeson Street Bar. She was also a caregiver for William J. Elliott for many years. She last worked part time for Curves in Dowagiac. She loved collecting “Smurf” memorabilia.

 

Her loving family includes: her children, daughter Debra Pence of Dowagiac and son Lewis Donald Konopka of Paulsbo, Wash.; grandchildren, Chad Pence, Katie Gilmar, Alex Konopka and Jessica Pence. She also leaves one great-grandchild, Gabriel Konopka.

 

Sally passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Lakeland Medical Center in Niles. She was preceded in death by a husband, Donald Boniface; and her parents, Donald and Jean Hartman.

 

At Sally’s request, there will be no services. However, her family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 15, at the Eagles in Dowagiac from 2 to 4 p.m. to celebrate her life with a memorial dinner.
