What’s your house hiding?

Have you ever wondered what secrets your historic home or building is hiding?

If so, The Buchanan Preservation Society and Buchanan Art Center have the program for you.

On June 2, they will be offering a one-hour class, titled “Learn More About Your Historic Building” at the art center, 117 W. Front St., Buchanan. The class begins at noon and is offered free of charge on behalf of the preservation society. However, donations will be accepted by the preservation society for its North and West Neighborhoods National Register Historic District Marker Fund.

Using materials available at the Buchanan District Library and other Berrien County records, preservation society secretary and historic preservation consultant Pam O’Connor will show you where to find information about your old building and how to fit what you find together to build its story. Participants will receive tips about how to use city directories, historic maps and newspapers, abstracts of deed, tax records and other sources.

Class size is limited to 25. Materials are provided and participants are encourage to bring a sack lunch. Visit buchananartcenter.org or call (269) 697-4005 for more details.
