Hartman breaks record again as Brandywine wins title

CENTREVILLE — Another weekend and another invitational championship for the Brandywine boys track team.

The Bobcats, who have now won three invitationals this year, easily captured the Centreville Invitational Saturday.

Brandywine amassed 738.5 points. Runner-up Mendon finished with 654 points. The host Bulldogs were third, Gobles fourth and Climax-Scotts fifth.

Evan Hartman for the second time this week broke his own discus record.

On Tuesday, Hartman threw 173-5.5 against Cassopolis to break his record-setting throw of 166-7 he set in 2012.

At Centreville, Hartman broke the record again and established a new meet record with a toss of 175-5. He also won the shot put with a toss of 44-10.5.

Also picking up first place finishes for the Bobcats were Nathan Anders in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles where he ran times of 15.95 and 42.04 respectively.

Courtlan Gordon won the 400-meters with a time of 51.21 and was part of the Bobcats’ winning 800-meter relay team (1:35.46) which also consisted of Cody Brackett, Andrew Duckett and Michael Shelton.

Brandywine’s Michael Robbins captured the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:52.84 and Tyler Danner won the 3,200-meters with a time of 10:8.77.

On Friday night, seven members of the Brandywine track team competed in the 56th annual Rotary Track Meet at Dickenson Stadium in St. Joseph.

Hartman won the discus with a toss of 162-3.
