THREE RIVERS – The Dowagiac softball team dropped a pair of Wolverine Conference West Division games to host Three Rivers Friday.

The Chieftains were edged by the Wildcats 3-2 in the first game and then 10-6 in the second game.

“We were bad in all aspects of the game tonight,” Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. We didn’t pitch well. We didn’t play defense well. And we certainly didn’t hit well. In that second game, we looked scored at the plate for some reason. Nobody acted like they wanted to hit with runners on base. We didn’t take advantage of all the walks they gave us. We have to start getting mentally tough if we want to start winning some games.”

In the opener, Kristyn Turner and Corinne Kasper both had two hits for the Chieftains. Kourtney Mitchell drove in one of the two Dowagiac runs/

In the second game, Turner was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Emily Roach singled and drove in a run.
