STEVENSVILLE — The Edwardsburg softball team had been having a pretty good two weeks against state ranked teams.

But No. 1-ranked Lakeshore (Division 2) proved to be a bit more than the Eddies could handle Wednesday afternoon.

The Lancers’ Rachael Knapp tossed a no-hitter in the Lancers’ 3-0 first game victory.

Lakeshore (17-0) completed the sweep with a 7-4 win in a nightcap that featured three home runs.

The Lancers scored three runs on five hits. Three of those hits were for extra bases as Megan Hiler and Rachel Reidel both doubled and Haley Thibeault homered.

In the nightcap, a six-run second inning proved to be the difference for Lakeshore.

Edwardsburg rallied from a 7-0 deficit to cut the lead to 7-5 with a run in the fourth and three runs in the sixth, but could get no closer.

Thibeault and Rachael Knapp both homered for the Lancers, while Edwardsburg’s Kaley Frank also had a home run.
