“Drummunity” is a unique, interactive program utilizing hand drums, percussion and simple drum circle games. Lori Fithian creates a positive, noncompetitive experience for people of all ages and abilities to share. The program, at 6 p.m. May 21 at the Cass District Library Howard Branch, emphasizes cooperation, creativity and diversity.

Fithian is the founder and creator of “Drummunity” and has been facilitating drum circles and workshops since 1998. Influenced by many drumming traditions — West African, Brazilian, Japanese, Afro-Cuban, and Middle Eastern — Fithian’s “Drummunity” has developed into a, hands-on experience with a message of community and peace, wellness, ecology and rhythmic fun. This program is for people of all ages from toddlers to adults and it is free and open to the public.

The Cass District Library Howard Branch is located at 2341 Yankee St.in Niles. For more information, call (269) 684-1680.
