Perennial area tennis power St. Joseph may not be ranked this season, but don’t tell the Niles players that.
The Bears rolled into town and blanked the Vikings 8-0 in a SMAC West Division match.
With the exception of just singles flight and two doubles flights, St. Joseph dropped just a handful of games in earning the victory.
Niles’ No. 1 singles player, Anna Flahaven battled Teri LaForest tooth and nail before falling 6-5 and 7-6.
The Vikings’ No. 1 doubles team also put up a fight against the Bears’ Grace Cravins and Claire Ottmar before falling 6-3 and 6-4.
At No, 3 doubles, Heaven Draper and Yaideliz Roldan pushed St. Joseph’s Nicole Cluff and Seneoa Masterson before being defeated 6-4 and 7-5.
In the other three singles flights, the Bears lost just 1 game to the Vikings. In the other two doubles flights, St. Joseph lost only two games.
