Brandywine runs winning streak to eigth games

The Brandywine softball team swept Eau Claire to run its winning streak to eight games Friday.

In the first game, the Bobcats beat Eau Claire 17-2 in four innings after a nine-run explosion in the third inning.

Makenna Hartline went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish for Bobcats. She tripled in the second inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.

Hannah Hadden brought the heat against the Beavers during her outing. Hadden gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out eight during her four innings of work.

Bobcats easily handled Eau Claire pitching as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

The game’s last lead went to Bobcats thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Kelly Harper and three singles.

The Bobcats blew out the Beavers 16-6 in the second game after pouring on nine runs in the fifth inning.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Bobcats finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. Bobcats scored on an RBI single by Michaela Hartline, which brought home sister Makenna Hartline.

Harper racked up four RBIs on three hits for Bobcats. She singled in the second and fourth innings and homered in the fifth inning.

Hadden got the win for Bobcats despite allowing six runs over five innings. Hadden struck out 13, walked one and gave up five hits.

Bobcats pounded Eau Claire pitching, as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Bobcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Harper got things going for Bobcats with a single.

Bobcats pushed across three runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Bobcats scored on a two-run error, scoring Rachael Ort and Michaela Hartline.

Bobcats went up for good in the fourth scoring three total runs, which came home on two singles.
