Honor Credit Union’s proposed new Dowagiac branch on M-51 South.

Honor Credit Union is proud to announce that the reconstruction of its Dowagiac branch begins May 6.

Completion of the new office is scheduled for late 2013.

The new 2,500-square-foot building will be on the same site as the existing building on M-51 South, but with a modernized look and features.

There will be two drive-through lanes, a drive-up ATM, night deposit box and safe deposit boxes.

“We are excited to invest in the Dowagiac community, which we have been a part of for nearly 30 years,” said Jessica Kehrer, regional manager for Honor Credit Union.  “We hope our members will be proud of the new branch and the continued community support by Honor Credit Union.”

Beginning on Monday, May 6, the branch will operate out of the building next door to the current branch, which was previously the Heartland car dealership, for the duration of the construction project.

It will have the same hours as the current branch, but will not have a drive-through or ATM.

Honor Credit Union donated the furniture from its Dowagiac branch office to the Southwestern Michigan Economic Growth Alliance (SMEGA).

The new building was designed by Ade Adewoye from Brooks Architect and E.C. Moore is the general contractor.

Dowagiac Planning Commission reviews the plans at 7 p.m. on May 6.

Honor Credit Union provides affordable financial services to more than 39,000 members in 14 Michigan counties.
