Anders leads Bobcats to New Buffalo title

NEW BUFFALO – Nathan Anders was a triple winner as the Brandywine boys track team captured the New Buffalo Invitational championship Wednesday night.

Anders won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and was a member of the Bobcats’ winning 1,600-meter relay. Anders ran 15.99 in the high hurdles and 42.38 in the intermediate hurdles.

Anders, Alex Ulrickson, Andrew Duckett and Michael Shelton posted a time of 3:43.56 in winning the 1,600 relay.

Also earning first place finishes were Michael Robbins in the 800-meters (2:10.36) and Evan Hartman in the discus (152-4).

Brandywine scored 168 points to easily outdistance runner-up Eau Claire, which finished with 117. Bridgman was third (93.5) and Buchanan fourth (67.5). Cassopolis finished seventh (41).

Buchanan’s Brianna Dinneen was the star of the girls’ meet, which was won by host New Buffalo.

She captured the 100- and 200-meters as well as the long jump.

Dinneen ran 12.75 in the 100, 26.37 in the 200 and leaped 15-3 in the long jump.

Cassopolis grabbed a pair of first place finishes in the 800- and 400-meter relays.

The 800-meter team consists of Breanna Coleman, Nakiela Sinclair, Kortenei Suggs and Sheridan Curry and ran a time of 1:58.42. The 400-meter team was made up of Janye Butts, Suggs, Coleman and Curry and ran a 55.88.

New Buffalo won the meet with 115 points. Cassopolis was fifth and Brandywine tied for 10th.
