Edwardsburg outlasted visiting St. Joseph Monday after six lead changes, squeaking out a 7-5 win.

The Eddies pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. Edwardsburg scored on a two-run walk-off home run by Garret Bronkema off Brett Cohoon, scoring Michael Kempton.

Kempton led Edwardsburg’s offensive as he got on base four times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first, second and fifth innings.

Bronkema recorded the win for the Eddies. He allowed four runs over two innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

In the top of the second, St. Joe grabbed the early lead, 2-0. St. Joe’s threat began with a double by Dennis Jordan. Spence Sunday then stole home. The scoreboard lit up again for St. Joe when Moore scored on an RBI single by Parker Hasse.

Edwardsburg quickly matched St. Joe’s strong inning with a five-run inning of its own in the second. The Eddies Varsity scored on an RBI single by Derek Pierce, an RBI single by Maris Marazita, a steal of home by Pierce, a steal of home by Marazita, and an RBI single by Kempton.

In the nightcap, Keith Boeker was strong at the plate and on the hill in carrying Edwardsburg to a 7-0 victory over St. Joe on Monday at Home.

Boeker paced the Eddies Varsity at the plate. Boeker went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Edwardsburg’s Boeker kept the Bears off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out four.

Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the Eddies to easily put away St. Joe. An RBI single by Dalton Raymond, a hit by pitch and a passed ball during the first inning and an RBI single by Raymond in the second inning supplied the early offense for Edwardsburg.
