It may have been cold and windy, but the weather felt just fine for the Brandywine soccer team Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats picked up their first official win of the season with a 6-1 drubbing of visiting River Valley.

The Bobcats (1-2) put forth a dominating display on the pitch keeping the ball on River Valley’s side of the field for a majority of the game and out-shooting the Mustangs 23-2.

Margaret Beaver had a hat-trick scoring goals in the 16th, 23rd and 32nd minutes respectively. Nichole Butler, Brooke Smith, and Katherine Luczkowski each added a goal in Brandywine’s winning effort.

Laura Donner scored the Mustangs lone goal in the 10th minute of the game.

Brandywine was on its way to a win earlier in the season at New Buffalo when Mother Nature intervened before the first half could end and wiped away both a 2-0 lead and a victory for the Bobcats.

The Lady Cats will return to the field on Monday when they travel to Berrien Springs to face their former conference rivals, the Shamrocks at 5 p.m.
