The Brandywine tennis team braved another weekend of cold, windy conditions to capture a tournament championship.

Brandywine edged Jimtown (Ind.) 28-21 to win its own Bobcat Invitational at Plym Park Saturday afternoon.

South Bend Washington was third with 20 points and Constantine fourth with 11.

The Bobcats split the singles flights and won three of the fourth doubles flights to earn the title.

β€œI thought Alicia (Prestcott) and Victoria (Knight) played very well in controlling the tempo of their matches,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said. β€œIn spite of the cold, all of our flights competed hard, which is always a good sign. This was a great tune-up for us before we open conference play Monday.”

Knight and Prescott were the championships at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively for Brandywine.

Jessy Cooper and Rachel Gipson, Mackenzie Shelton and Ashley DeJonge, along with Cassidy Purucker and Ember Brant were the doubles flight championships for the Bobcats.
