Michigan Lutheran defeats Dowagiac 3-1

The Dowagiac soccer team dropped to 0-2 Saturday following its 3-1 loss to visiting Michigan Lutheran.

After a scoreless first half, Kaitlin Weber scored the first of two goals in the 55th minute. Molly Levi made it 2-0 in the 57th minute before Weber capped the scoring for the Titans in the 68th minute.

The Chieftains averted the shutout a few seconds later when Drew Andrade also scored in the 68th minute off an assist from Amanda Hassle.

Michigan Lutheran (3-0) outshot Dowagiac (0-2) 12-4. Nichole Favela had four saves for the Chieftains.

“We adjusted in the second half of play,” Dowagiac coach Craig Black said. “We played better in the second half even if the score doesn’t reflect it. We have several new players stepping up.”
