Brandywine boys win Bridgman Invitational

BRIDGMAN – The Brandywine boys track team easily won the Bridgman Invitational Wednesday.

The Bobcats scored 169 points, while runner-up Eau Claire finished with 110.5 points. Host Bridgman was third with 89.5 points. Cassopolis finished fifth with 55 points.

Nathan Anders led Brandywine with a trio of first place finishes as he won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and was a member of the winning 1,600-meter relay team along with Matt Kline, Michael Shelton and Courtlan Gordon.

Shelton and Gordon were also triple winners. They combined with Kline and Cody Brackett to win the 800-meter relay before adding the 400- and 200-meter individual championships respectively.

Evan Hartman won both the shot put and the discus for the Bobcats, who also got a first place effort from Michael Robbins in the 800-meters.

Cassopolis picked up championships in the 100-meters with Evan Brown and the long jump with Robert Saxton.

New Buffalo edged Lake Michigan Catholic 124-119.5 to win the girls title.

Cassopolis finished third with 104.5 points and Brandywine eighth with 18.

The Rangers won both the 800- and 400-meter relays. Breanna Coleman, Nakiela Sinclair, Kaylyn Forrest and Jaleesa Garner made up the 800-meter team, while Janye Butts, Coleman, Sheridan Curry and Forrest made up the 400-meter team.

Cassopolis captured the 1,600-meter relay as well with the team of Curry, Sinclair, Melody Cutting and Garner.

Forrest was a triple winner as she also captured the 200-meters.
