BUCHANAN — The Buchanan baseball team split a pair of non-conference games for former Lakeland Conference foe Coloma Tuesday.

The Bucks defeated the Comets, who are now members of the Wolverine Conference’s West Division, 4-3 in the opener, but dropped the nightcap 3-1.

Justin Henderson scattered six hits, while striking out eight to earn the victory in the first game.

Offensively for Buchanan, freshman Jarrett Thomas was 3-for-4. Alex Leiter was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.

Buchanan had just one hit in the second game, a single by Henderson.

Thomas took the loss despite only giving up four hits with five strikeouts. He did walk six.

All three Comet runs were scored on errors.

Buchanan is set to face Fennville Thursday.
