ELKHART — June M. Hatfield, 81, of Elkhart, Ind. and formerly of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Sunday, March 24, 2013 while a patient at Greenleaf Living Center of Elkhart after a brief illness.

June was born Dec. 17, 1931 in Roseland (South Bend), Ind., the daughter of J. Clifford and Mayme Lucille (Hatfield) Starkweather, and has lived in the Michiana area all of her life. She was a graduate of Edwardsburg High School.

June was married May 16, 1952 in Elkhart, as June Starkweather, to Elbert Utah Hatfield and he passed Feb. 4, 1970. Other family who have passed, are her parents, her sisters, Ruth, an infant, and Marion Marbaugh and seven brothers, James Starkweather, John Starkweather, Wayne Starkweather, Kenneth Starkweather, Claude Starkweather, Russell Starkweather and Ben Starkweather.

Surviving are her children, Randall (Sue) Hatfield, of Waynesboro, Pa. and Tammy (Michael) Stone of Elkhart. There are four loving grandchildren, Miranda Burton, Kathryn Bartolacci, Cory Stone and Brittany Hatfield. There are three dear great-grandchildren, Ryley Wessel, Colton Stone and Lylah Burton.

June loved her family and dearly enjoyed the times with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as other family and friends. She loved to fish and go camping, but traveling was lots of fun. She was good at playing cards, especially euchre with her friends.

Family and friends gathered March 27 at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St., Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Adamsville Road Church of God, 51287 CR 7, North, Elkhart, where family and friends may gather for one hour before the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Meckley, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Adamsville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home.
