In the mood for some music by Katy Perry? Taylor Swift? How about a little Mario Bros.?

It’s an eclectic mix to be sure, but that’s what you can expect at Thursday’s Niles High School talent show.

Produced five of the past six years, the talent show features about 15 acts ranging from solos, to duets, to skits to guitar players.

It’s a cheap ticket, too, just $1 for students and $3 for adults. Show time is 6:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium.

Best friends and freshmen Nevada Rodriguez and Breanna McFadden will be singing Taylor Swift’s “White Horse” together.

“We tried many songs, but this is the one that sounded the best with both of us together,” Rodriguez said.

McFadden can’t wait to get on stage.

“I’ve always wanted for people to notice I can sing,” she said.

Juniors Brian Gonzalez and Lorenzo Lawshea might have the most creative act. The two friends will be playing selections from the popular game Super Mario Bros.

“I played it (Super Mario) at an elementary school a couple years ago, and they were happy about it,” Lawshea said. “It think people will like it here, too.”

They will be playing the music on a marimba.
