Richard R. Allison, 87, of Cassopolis, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Westwood of Niles.

Richard’s  life began on Jan. 23, 1926, in Cassopolis, the son of Clarence and Neva (Ruple) Allison.

He was united in marriage to the former Arabell Shippy on June 9, 1945, in Cassopolis.

Richard worked for the Du-Wel Co. in Dowagiac for many years.  He and Arabell enjoyed spending their retirement winters in Florida and their Cassopolis home.

Richard was a very good handyman and loved to work in his yard.  He was still chopping wood with a maul and wedge at the age of 86.

His loving family includes: his children, Mark (Rhonda) Allison of Niles and Gail (Sterling) Ross of Decatur; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Richard passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at West Woods of Niles.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Arabell, and a son, Ron Allison.
