The calendar may say it’s spring, but for area athletic directors, the weather is anything but pleasing.

With southwest Michigan getting several inches of snow overnight and a forecast that includes rain and snow early next week, many schools are canceling their events through Tuesday.

Brandywine soccer match against River Valley scheduled for Thursday afternoon has been postponed. It will be made up April 20 at noon.

The Bobcats’ JV and varsity baseball and softball games with Dowagiac scheduled for Monday have also been postponed, as well as the girls tennis match against cross-town rival Niles.

Tuesday’s golf jamboree with Niles, Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Brandywine at Orchard Hills has been postponed.

Edwardsburg’s soccer match against Sturgis scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until May 17.

Dowagiac Athletic Director Brent Nate has announced that Saturday’s Corey Hinz Memorial Tournament at South Haven has been canceled.

The Chieftains have also Monday’s games with Brandywine and Tuesday’s doubleheaders in baseball and softball against Decatur.

No make-up dates have been announced.

The Niles Vikings have also canceled their events for Monday and Tuesday.

The Vikings were slated to play in the Brandywine quad at Orchard Hills and tennis with the Bobcats.

Niles has also canceled its JV and varsity baseball games against Coloma scheduled for Tuesday.
