Janet Elliot, 72, of Buchanan, a true angel of God and the Buchanan Community, passed away on March 3, 2013 at Silverbrook Manor in Niles.

She was born on May 8, 1940 in North Carolina to Sam and Emma Jean Scott.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James and Roger Scott.

She is survived by son Jimmy Longcrier Scott of Charlotte, N.C., daughter Phyllis Longcrier of Buchanan, brother Lewis Scott of Morgaton, N.C., three sisters; Virginia Glass of Granite, N.C., Betty Jean Scott of Hickory, N.C., and Helen Scott of Oakland, Calif., four grandchildren; Jameson and Jimmy Scott, Tyra Longcrier, and Erin Tomaski, a godson Brandon Brown of Niles, a life loyal friend, Gladys Hister of Benton Harbor, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at New Good Hope Baptist Church, 112 Fulton St., Buchanan, with visitation taking place one hour before the service in the church.  Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan following the service.
